Live From Hong Kong

Hi guys!!!

So I'm safe and sound in Hong Kong. If any of you are reading this please feel free to gchat me! The fifteen hour flight was long and boring. As per usual. I did, however, manage to finish reading Foundations of Buddhism (not an easy feat let me assure you) and start Horses Like Lightning, which is making me rethink doing an SIT program because there is no way in hell I am going to be competent enough to do an Independent Study Project. On the other hand, I sat next to the nicest chinese man who let me have the empty middle seat and despite the double take he did when he saw me pick up my tibetan books still had the courtesy to save me water when the cart went around and woke me up when the food cart was going to see if I wanted anything! Maybe I'll get lucky this next leg of the flight....I doubt it, but one can hope?

OH and in case you were wondering where exactly I'm going to be the next few months the schedule is roughly something like this:

Week 1.5: orientation in Delhi
Week 2: Orientation in Dharamsala (where the Tibetan government in exile is)
Weeks 3-5: Homestay in Dharamsala
Week 6 (or so): Kathmandu, Nepal
Weeks 7-10: Excursion to Tibet (roughly one week in Lhasa and then some random trekking...of course this is also conditions permitting)
Weeks 11-14: Independent Study Project (AHHHHH...I'm not going to think about this one)
Weeks 15: Presentations and Recapitulations in Kathmandu

Alright, it's back to more reading now....possibly a nap. We'll see.

T Minus 1

AHHH!!! Okay, so I've officially recognized the fact that I am indeed going abroad on MONDAY. I have yet to start (let alone finish) packing. Nor have I finished any of the three required reading books. I have, however, managed to read six or seven not required, but recommended, readings. So basically, my silliness is going to be the death of me.

Okay, so not much for an inauguration post, but I have very little to say. Writing a blog is something I haven't done since high school. Oh Em Gee I'm getting old.

TTFN (because I still have to buy more stuff, get tags removed off of my sub zero sleeping bag, and get my hair cut)
